The World is Turning

Radio JoJo

Volume 3: „The World is Turning – Interviews and Music for Kids“ (English)

This broadcast travels twice around the world, with a dialog and a music trip within: The interview partners of this third sequence come from China, Liberia and Germany. Parallel to it, the dialog is accompanied by the music-trip, presenting songs from USA, South Africa, Tanzania, Mali, Brazil, Haiti and Jamaica.

Music Spezial: Caramba, Caramba (English)

Why is „Musica Negra“, or black music , actually  called „Musica Negra“? You have completely the wrong idea if you think this music is painted black or particularly sad. When the slaves from Africa came to America they brought with them their music which over time became mixed with the music from the Indians  and the Spanish. From this musical mixture  arose some amazingly happy and lively rhythms such as Son, Bachata or Punta. Check out the groovy sounds with grade 6a from the the Brother-Grimm-primary school in Berlin-Wedding as they take us on a musical exploration into the world of „Musica Negra“.
